Download Cheer Pressure

Grey and Brady discuss: environmental nagging, cheer pressure, apple products and wants/needs/weeds, singular use of 'we' and caring less, Boaty McBoatface, Encryption and if your phone is part of you.

We have included a starting point for application of fabric, vinyl, spangles and rhinestones. Because iron temperatures, hand pressure and ironing surfaces vary you may need to adjust your application method for your equipment. Below are starting points. Adjust as necessary.

- Set the heat press to 335-350 degrees Fahrenheit or high/cotton/linen setting if using an iron. Traditionally it is not recommended to press rhinestones on top of glitter vinyl and we do not recommend attempting it with a hand iron at all. You must have a heat press with verified temperature and heavy pressure for this to work. However, since bows are not washed like garments are, you may be able to apply some rhinestone designs on top of the glitter vinyl successfully. This will not work for all designs. We do not recommend placing designs with large stones (ss16 and bigger) on glitter at all, especially designs with large stones that fall in the crease. You will have stone loss. The most permanent and professional application is to place rhinestones on top of plain uncoated fabric or uncoated ribbon only. There is always the risk of stone loss when placing rhinestones on glitter or even coated fabric such as mystique. Always test a small batch first. Some designs will require you to use a pressing pillow and or press the back and front of the design before removing the transfer tape. You can also try to rub the design carefully as it cools. It is trial and error to see what settings work for your press and materials. There is not one single setting that works for everyone.

- Set the timer to 10 -15 seconds. Designs with SS16 or larger stones will need to be pressed on a heat press only, heavy pressure and 20-30 seconds. Please make sure all materials you are pressing are compatible with the pressing specs for proper rhinestone adhesion. Not following these instructions will result in stone loss.- Adjust the upper platform so the pressure is high, but still able to lock down.- Pre-press your ribbon to flatten out any wrinkles, then allow it to cool a little bit.- Remove white backing sheet from rhinestone design (all you should have is the clear plastic and the rhinestone design) Place rhinestone design sticky side down aligned on your ribbon. There is no need for a cover sheet, but you may use a non-stick cover sheet or pillow case if you choose to.- Lower heat-press. If you are using an iron, use a flat surface and very firm pressure and press in sections (slightly overlapping) until entire transfer is applied.- Once finished, remove ribbon and lay out flat, design downward, on your work table.- Once the design cools, peel off transfer paper in the direction that stretches the garment the least. Some designs may require a warm peel. - If any rhinestones lift, place back down and press again.

If using both rhinestones AND spangles on the same ribbon, apply the spangles first and then adhere the rhinestones. If you apply the rhinestones first, the dimension of the rhinestones will not allow enough pressure for spangles to adhere, too.

- Set the heat press to 330-340 degrees Fahrenheit or high/cotton/linen setting if using an iron.- Set the timer to 10 -15 seconds.- Adjust the upper platform so the pressure is high, but still able to lock down.- Pre-press your ribbon to flatten out any wrinkles, then allow it to cool a little bit.- Place design aligned on your ribbon. There is no need for a cover sheet, but you may use a non-stick cover sheet or pillow case if you choose to.- Lower heat-press. If you are using an iron, use a flat surface and very firm pressure and press in sections (sligtly overlapping) until entire transfer is applied.- Once finished, remove ribbon and lay out flat, design downward, on your work table.- Remove the clear carrier sheet from the vinyl. Temperature is important -Glitter - warm peel; holographic - cold peel; Flock - cold peel; standard - warm or cold; metallic - cold peel.

-You should avoid layering glitter vinyl. You can get away with it somewhat for cheer bows, but because of the texture, it will eventually separate. You cannot layer anything over holographic vinyl. It is too slick of a surface and anything will peel right off.

Sometimes our expectations can become outsized, too. Parents who are very motivated by the idea of getting their children into college might already be thinking of signing up for the right extracurriculars and getting the right GPA when their children are still several years away from filling out an application. Being pushed for a goal so far in the future, and hearing about it for so much of their lives, can make kids feel inadequate and resentful. If you think that your child might be feeling too pressured, it is important to take a step back.

Freed from religion and societal coercion, individualized subjects have to pause in this situation, as they face new pressures to determine themselves through their own power and their own decisions (with the help of the global offerings of the media). It is necessary for them to determine who they are and where they are in society, which norms are valid for them, which life projects they should pursue, and which goals and norms they should use to orient their own lives (and life with others) (Beck & Beck-Gernsheim, 1994). In short, against the background of a lack of overarching meaning (anchored in the beyond), subjects are challenged to decide for themselves about the meaning of their own lives and the forms and norms of life that follow from it (Luckmann, 2010). They are compelled to bind themselves (with the help of reflection and the media) to certain plans of action and to renounce others, first to exclude themselves (in two ways) from the group and thus to designate themselves as unique, and then to establish themselves (Reichertz, 2000, 2015). In other words, they must find out or choose who they are or rather want to be, in order to subsequently anchor this identity and make it visible through social action. Subjects must first locate themselves with the help of self-created self-determination (which results from self-exclusion), in order to then find their way through the chaos of options to be able to determine themselves (Degen et al., 2020; Gross, 1994; Reichertz, 2010).

Collective attendance of German Bundesliga football matches and the collective surge of emotion that gradually emerges in the process are part of a now institutionalized and highly ritualized habit of behavior; this behavior, which first had to emerge historically, involves specific socialization processes for its actors. Thus, various rituals have emerged as a kind of score for action. There are ritual masters who indicate which score is to be played when, making sure that as many people as possible seriously participate in this ritual. Among the ritual masters there is also a high nobility and a low nobility, that is, those who have a lot to say and those who have little to say. There are those who are experienced, those who have just been initiated or those who are applying for initiation, and of course there are a multitude of spectators who not only observe the rite, but also witness it through their presence and make it possible in the first place. The ritual, interrelated acts of cheering, taunting and mocking, communitizing, provoking and hitting each other that unfold at such large-scale events are embedded in a (sub)culture that has evolved locally and historically, thereby developing forms of socialization and sanctions for the actors.

In every football (American: soccer) stadium there is a certain spectator area, usually behind a goal, where mainly the very active home fans gather, that is, the ultras and in the past also the hooligans. There, the fans perform choreographies with large flags, beat drums, and sing loudly to cheer on their team. Fireworks or flares are often set off there as well. At the stadium of Borussia Dortmund, BVB, a leading Bundesliga club in Germany, this is the so-called Südkurve, which is celebrated by the home team and generally feared by the visiting team. 2ff7e9595c
